Following the emergence of coronavirus epidemic in the country and the directives of Anambra state government, the Anglican Church in Anambra State has suspended all activities indefinitely.
The Archbishop of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Alexander Ibezim announced this on Saturday in Awka, Anambra state
He said the current situation in the entire world, nay Anambra State and in line with the decision of Governor Willie Obiano in securing the lives of the people, had led to such decision.

Ibezim said the current and ravaging endemic disease- coronavirus, had actually terrorised the entire world but God according to him, is still God.
“We want to appreciate the Governor and the Government of Anambra State for her concerted efforts in combating the deadly disease”
“In line with Governments directives, we want to restate that all actions of the Church should be in line with World Health Organization’s Standard.”
The Diocese had earlier banned the celebration of peace which includes shaking of hands, hugging, e.t.c”
“The use of a common cup for wine-distribution in Holy Communion Services has been banned. Churches have been directed to procure and use small disposable cups henceforth”
“Vicars and Parish Priests are encouraged to maintain office hours, with prayers said at intervals of 9am, 12noon, 3pm and 6pm” Ibezim said
He said the Church depended on the Mercy of God for His divine intervention while they continue to offer prayers for this scourge to pass over.
