Anti-5G Protests Hit Anambra Community

Youths in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State yesterday took to the streets to protest the laying of cables believed to be for the 5G network currently trending all over the world.

The 5G network has been a controversial issue for a while now with notable people across the world condemning it for its radiation exposure while others blamed it for the novel Coronavirus.

Influential people like firmer Senator Dino Melaye and clergy, Chris Oyakhilome have hit out at its riding popularity too, linking it with the CoVid-19 pandemic.

The protest from the youths in Anambra came as a result of a statement credited to IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu who said that the CoVid-19 lockdown was designed to keep people off the streets so that the 5G cables can be laid across the world.

Reacting to the incident, Chief Ndubisi Osele, the traditional chief in the community blamed misinformation for the protests.

According to him: “Some miscreants misinformed the youths in the community that 5G Technology Network was being installed in the community.

“What is being laid underground is fiber cables, not 5G Network; 5G Technology Network is a band placed on the Mast, it is not laid under the ground.”
