Arsenal Edge Past Shakhtar In Champions League

Arsenal secured a crucial Champions League win against Shakhtar Donetsk, courtesy of an own goal by goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk, bouncing back from their weekend loss to Bournemouth.

Gabriel Martinelli’s 29th-minute shot struck the post and ricocheted off Riznyk’s back before rolling into the net, giving Arsenal the lead.

The home side dominated early on, with Riccardo Calafiori missing an early chance and Gabriel Jesus testing Riznyk shortly after the goal.

Shakhtar remained well-organized and dangerous on the counter, with winger Eguinaldo keeping Arsenal’s defence under pressure.

Despite Arsenal’s injury woes, with key players Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka sidelined, they maintained control for much of the game.

However, Mikel Arteta faced further concerns as Ben White was subbed at halftime and Calafiori exited due to injury.
