Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has ordered a developer to stop work on a site around Victoria Crest Estate II in the Lekki area of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in the state, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday.

He disclosed that operatives in the environment ministry issued the order on Thursday.

The developer was accused of illegally sandfilling the drainage channel along System 156 and and carrying out reclamation work without state approval.

“Operatives of Drainage Enforcement and Compliance dept from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources on Thursday (30/11/2023) issued a STOP WORK ORDER to a developer along System 156 behind Victoria Crest Estate II in Lekki for illegally sandfilling the channel and carrying out reclamation work without any approval from the state,” the commissioner said.

The ‘stop work’ order comes amid the Lagos government’s ongoing aggressive countdown on illegal structures.

The state has carried out several demolition exercises in recent months, accusing property owners of building on the wrong sites without obtaining approval.
