Four People Abducted While Returning From Naming Ceremony In Kogi

  • Four people have been abducted while returning from naming ceremony in Kogi state.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Hoodlums have abducted four people who were returning from a naming ceremony at Oko to Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened on Saturday around 8pm.

It was learnt that the police and vigilante have been combing the bush in the area to track the hoodlums after getting wind of the incident.

However, their efforts have not paid off as of the time of this report.

The Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP William Aya, did not pick calls to confirm the story.

But reports from the locals in the area indicated that a surveillance chopper had been drafted to the area to help track the hoodlums.

A source confirmed sighting the chopper hovering over the air space in the area on Sunday.

Hoodlums, numbering about 30, had invaded Egbe town recently, killing and looting banks and POS operators.

Gunshots As Thugs Disrupt Zamfara PDP Congress

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a few hours to the commencement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Congress in Zamfara State; some political thugs attacked the venue of the exercise with several gunshots.

The programme initially slated for the Zaitun Oil Mill, behind State Pilgrim Board, has been moved to the Command Guest House in Gusau, the state capital.

It was gathered that the thugs invaded the venue in the early hours of yesterday and destroyed the voting materials, nomination forms, two vehicles belonging to party members, chairs and set canopies ablaze.

The Personal Secretary to Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Umar Aminu told The Nation that the party will not be intimidated by the incident, noting that the congress will still go ahead as scheduled.

He said the hoodlums are unknown but assured security agencies will investigate the matter.

 

It is not certain which political party is responsible for the attack on the PDP facility in the Northwestern state.

Despite the attack, the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau and the Caretaker Chairman of the party, Ambassador Bala Mande has arrived at the venue of the congress.

The congress has drawn 1,089 delegates and was meant to produce key PDP officials that will pilot the affairs of the party.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that no fewer than one person was reportedly killed in Igbaye, Osun state on Monday following a crisis that erupted during end of the year carnival celebration in the town.

A top security source, who pleaded anonymity said that the immediate cause of the crisis was a misunderstanding that started at the venue of end of the year carnival.

He however added that the clashes between the parties involved in the crisis was not unconnected with the tussle over Onigbaye stool.

He further explained that the causality of the clash, a man, after he was shot, was rushed to a hospital in Okuku, where he eventually gave up the ghost.

“The crisis started during a end of the year carnival. The details is not available yet, but from findings, the remote cause of the crisis was not unconnected with the Onigbaye stool.

“A man was shot and he was rushed to a hospital in Okuku, where he was declared dead. Police operatives, Amotekun corps and local hunters have been deployed to the community,” the source concluded.

Onigbaye of Igbaye, Oba Joseph Okunlola-Oni, could not be reached for comment on his mobile phone, as the line was switched off and response to a text message sent to him was still being expected as of the time of filing this report.

But the spokesperson of Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, when contacted, confirmed that there was unrest arising from carnival celebration in the town.

Although she did not confirm that a life was lost to the crises, Opalola, said “the Commissioner has deployed our tactical teams. The unrest started from a carnival celebration. But our men are on ground and the situation has been brought under control.”
