EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, has refused to confirm or deny media reports that he had a meeting with President-elect, Bola Tinubu, in London.

The meeting, according to the reports, was to seek the favour of the judiciary as Tinubu’s opponents try to overturn his victory in the February 25 presidential election.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Ariwoola allegedly disguised himself as a physically challenged old man and left Nigeria for London on March 11, taking a British Airways flight from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Upon arrival in London, he was reportedly wheeled into a hotel downtown where he has stayed since. However, Ariwoola was seen moving around the hotel unaided, abandoning his wheelchair.

Despite the reports, the CJN has refused to comment as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is set to begin hearing soon. Meanwhile, Tinubu has denied having a meeting with Ariwoola in London.

CJN Refuses To Deny Or Confirm Meeting President-elect

The Director of Media and Publicity of the APC presidential campaign council (PCC), Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement on Thursday saying that Tinubu is currently in France.

The allegations of a secret meeting between Tinubu and the CJN have sparked controversy and concern among Nigerians, especially in light of previous accusations of judicial bias in the country. Some have called for an investigation into the matter, while others have criticized the media for reporting on unsubstantiated claims.
