Government of Delta State has revealed that tertiary institutions in the State are to reopen on September 21, 2020, five months after they were closed down as a measure to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
Government sources said on Monday that the date had been tentatively agreed upon as resumption date for the new academic session for tertiary institutions following a meeting by the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, with stakeholders including COVID-19 management team.
Delta State is currently in the eighth position on Nigeria’s COVID-19 chart with 1,744 confirmed infections.

Of the number, the State has managed and discharged 1,540 patients with 157 currently undergoing treatment.
However, 47 fatalities have so far been recorded.
One of the sources who is a top government official stated that they have agreed to reopen before September end; stressing that the governor would make an announcement to that effect when every arrangement was completed.
