EKO HOT BLOG reports that at the Lagos parallel market, also known as the black market, Bureau De Change (BDC) operators purchased the dollar at ₦1,535 and sold at ₦1,518, according to traders. This represents slight fluctuations compared to earlier trading sessions, reflecting the continued volatility in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

Meanwhile, at the official CBN window, the dollar traded between ₦1,518 and ₦1,520. The apex bank has repeatedly cautioned Nigerians and businesses against patronising the black market, insisting that foreign exchange transactions should be conducted through official banking channels to ensure transparency and stability.

Below are the latest exchange rates for Thursday, September 4, 2025:

Dollar to Naira Black Market Rate (September 3, 2025):

  • Buying Rate: ₦1,535

  • Selling Rate: ₦1,518

Dollar to Naira CBN Rate (September 3, 2025):

  • Highest Rate: ₦1,520

  • Lowest Rate: ₦1,518

It is important to note that forex prices may vary depending on location and demand. Analysts have linked the persistent gap between the official and parallel market rates to rising forex demand, reduced inflows, and economic uncertainty.

The Federal Government has continued to assure Nigerians of efforts to stabilise the exchange market, with the CBN pledging to sustain reforms aimed at improving dollar liquidity and narrowing the gap between the official and black market rates.
