The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has attributed the successful progress Nigeria made on the Transparency International Corruption Index to the creation of EFCC.

According to Magu, before the creation of EFCC, Nigeria was ranked 2nd most corrupt country in the world, but with the establishment of the Commission in 2003, Nigeria has gradually moved to the 36th position as at 2018.
Magu made the assertion through the Head, Foreign Exchange Malpractices Section, Farouk Dogondaji, at a Town Hall Lecture delivered to the 2019 BATCH ‘C’ STREAM 1 NYSC Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kusalla Dam, Karaye, Kano, Kano State.
