In a statement, the council boss emphasized that domestic and sexual violence are not just private struggles but wounds that cut deep into the fabric of society.

She noted that women, men, and children across all social backgrounds could be victims of such abuse.

“Too often, these painful experiences are endured in silence, hidden behind closed doors and unspoken fears,” she said.

“The effects are devastating: broken homes, damaged health, emotional scars, and generational trauma that threaten the future of our children.”

Hon. Animashaun reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to championing awareness, strengthening preventive measures, and providing safe platforms for survivors to find support and healing.

She further urged victims to speak out, stressing that their voices and well-being matter.

The Epe LG Chairman highlighted that ending domestic and sexual violence is not the duty of government alone but a responsibility shared by all.

“From our homes to our schools, from our workplaces to our places of worship, we all have a role to play,” she stated.

She called on residents to speak up, educate others, intervene when necessary, and support survivors, noting that collective efforts would create a culture where respect, safety, and dignity are upheld.

“Together, we can break the silence, shatter the cycle, and build a community where every life is valued and protected,” she added.
