Speaking on behalf of the council, the spokesperson of NYCN Epe Local Branch, Moibi Ibrahim, commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for the repose of the departed souls.

“We pray that Almighty God grants the departed eternal rest and comforts those left behind. We also extend our prayers to the injured and wish them a swift and complete recovery,” he said.

Moibi emphasized that the tragic incident underscores the urgent need for road safety consciousness among motorists and commuters, particularly those who ply the Lekki-Epe corridor.

“We appeal to all drivers to prioritize safety by observing speed limits, avoiding reckless overtaking, and ensuring their vehicles are in proper working condition before setting out,” he added.

The NYCN further called on relevant agencies, transport unions, and community stakeholders to intensify sensitization campaigns on road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.

“These collective measures will go a long way in preventing avoidable accidents and saving lives,” the statement read.

Reaffirming their commitment, the youths stressed that the safety and welfare of residents remain a top priority.
