Super Falcons of Nigeria player and Former goal poacher Mercy Akide-Udoh lost her father on Tuesday after a brief ailment.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , Mercy Akide announced the death of her father on her Facebook page as she paid tribute to him.
She also revealed in her post, that the late septuagenarian died on his birthday
Frieneds, family members, journalists former Super Falcons colleagues and even opponents amongst them coach of the Bayana Bayana of South Africa Desiree Elis sent their condolences to the first Africa Woman Footballer of the year.
Mercy Akide-Udoh played for Nigeria in three FIFA Women’s World Cups and also won three Africa Women Cup of Nation titles with the Super Falcons in 1998, 2000 and 2002.
The Former Jegede Babes and Pelican Stars player was named in the FIFA World All-Star team in 1999 and 2004
In 2005, she was named by FIFA as one of its 15 Ambassadors for Women Football.
