Explosions Rock Kyiv As Air Defences Respond To Missile Strike

At least two people have been reported injured following a series of explosions in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, as the city’s mayor confirmed air defences were active in response to a missile strike on Friday morning.

Witnesses reported multiple loud blasts across the city, with smoke rising from several areas. The Ukrainian Air Force issued an alert on Telegram, warning of a “ballistic missile from the north.”

The Kyiv Independent reported that the explosions occurred around 7am (05:00 GMT), citing Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who stated that “several cars were on fire in the Holosiivskyi district due to debris from a missile.”

Fires were also reported in the Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, as well as at a construction site in the Dnipro district.
