Men of Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, arrested a 31-year -old fake soldier, Jolly Gilbert.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi stated this in a statement in Abeokuta, adding that the fake soldier was arrested during the raiding of criminal hideout and black spots at Eyin-Ogbe area of Ogijo.
According to Oyeyemi ,Gilbert was arrested along with two others at the hideout in military camouflage fatigue.
He said: “On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a soldier serving with 174 Battalion of Nigerian Army. A signal was sent to the Battalion to authenticate his claim and it was revealed that the suspect is a fake soldier.
“Recovered from him are a soldier’s identity card, a jack knife, military hardware and assorted charms.”
The PPRO further said that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makam,a has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
