EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has given a positive assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s first month in office.

Shettima said that he was encouraged by the “body language” of the new president, and that he was hopeful that Tinubu would be able to bring about the much-needed change in Nigeria.

However, Shettima also warned that Tinubu would need to be careful not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We have seen some good signs from President Tinubu in the past month,” Shettima said. “He has made some important appointments, and he has taken some steps to tackle corruption. But he needs to be careful not to make the same mistakes as Buhari.

“Buhari made some good promises when he came to power, but he failed to deliver on many of them. He also appointed some very corrupt people to his government. We don’t want to see a repeat of that under President Tinubu.”

Shettima also said that he was concerned about the lack of representation for the North in the new government.

“The North is the most populous region in Nigeria, but it is not well-represented in the new government,” he said. “This is a worrying trend, and it needs to be addressed.”

Overall, Shettima said that he was cautiously optimistic about President Tinubu’s first month in office. However, he warned that Tinubu would need to work hard to earn the trust of the Nigerian people.

“We are watching President Tinubu closely,” he said. “We want to see him deliver on his promises. If he does that, he will have our support. But if he fails, we will not hesitate to hold him accountable.”
