Ekohotblog reports that in a bid to ease hardship during this festive period, Ibeju lekki Local Government has started the distribution of over 6000 food palliative to families and residents of the community.
Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa-led administration in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government started the food distribution program to support families during the festive season, EkoHotBlog can authoritatively report.

The first phase of the initiative, took place on Friday, 20th Dec 2024,at Iwerekun Community High School, Lakowe and it witnessed over 2,000 residents from Wards E and F receiving food items, with a promise that more than 6,000 families will benefit from the largesse.
In his address, Hon. Olowa explained that the current economic situation in the country has left many families struggling, and the program was initiated to ease the burden during this period.
“The situation in the country is tough for many families, and that is why we decided to support the people of Ibeju-Lekki.
“We want to ensure that no one is left behind this festive season. Over 6,000 families will benefit from this initiative,” he said.
The distribution was done in an orderly manner, with tickets allocated to various groups, including widows, teachers, people living with disabilities (PLWD), unemployed youths, market women, artisans, community development associations (CDAs), religious groups, Arewa and Ndigbo communities, trade unions, the elderly, agencies, and students.
Hon. Olowa advised the residents to remain calm and resolute despite the challenges.
“I want to encourage everyone to take things easy this festive season.
“Let us have a positive mind and believe that things will get better.
” Please be patient with your leaders; we are all working hard to play our part in making things better for everyone,” he added.
According to the handlers the program will continue on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, at Ibeju High School for residents of Wards A and B,
The programme is slates to begin at 3:00 PM. On Monday, December 23rd, 2024, beneficiaries from Wards C1, C2, and D will receive their food items at Iberekodo Primary School at 10:00 AM.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries at the event expressed their gratitude for the thoughtful gesture.
A widow, Mrs. Adeola Bakare, said, “This food will help me and my children during this period. I thank Hon. Olowa for thinking of us.”

Alhaji Musa Garba from the Arewa community also commended the initiative.
“This shows that our leaders are aware of our struggles. We feel included and cared for,” he noted.
