I Wasn’t Paid To Praise Tinubu – Tunde Bakare

Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly (LRA), has debunked claims that he was paid to launder the image of Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos state.

Ekohotblog had reported how Bakare, a vociferous antagonist of Tinubu, was in the center of the storm last week, when he likened him (Tinubu) to Jephthah in the Bible who gave his people liberty and hope despite the circumstances of his birth.

The cleric had said Tinubu was in the forefront of championing Yoruba causethe forefront of championing Yoruba cause and had won many battles for the ethnic group, He added that God will put Tinubu in a lofty and coveted position without the support of any man.

His remarks came as surprise to many, with some saying his utterances were akin to that of a man who would exault his foe to get his pocket lined

But Addressing his congregation on Sunday, Bakare said he wasn’t not paid to say the things he said about tmTinubu.

In a sermon titled ‘There is None Holy as the Lord’, the fiery preacher said no one has the wherewithal and financial muscle to buy him because he has already been bought “by the Blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary”.

He said his comment on Tinubu was misconstrued and taken out of context by those he labeled as “undertakers”, adding that the “bathwater and the baby” were tossed away.

He asked those who alleged he was paid by some political interest to prove it if they have any evidence.

“One would have thought that the whole message of over an hour would be listened to so that the context of the clip that went viral would be listened to before judgment is passed by those who considered us to have taken a 360-turnaround compared to the thoughts we had taken previously about the man many love to hate and many hate to love,” Bakare said.

He said “self-appointed undertakers” believe the only way the nation can come out of its current quagmire is to pull out “the tares and separate them from the wheat long before the harvest time ordained by God”
