Against the backdrop of a trending video by an ex-Miss Okene beauty pageant, Miss Elizabeth Oyeniyi of her being serially battered and allegedly raped by the Kogi state Commissioner for water resources Abdulmumini Danga, the governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has ordered for full investigation to unravel the authenticity or otherwise of the story.
The commissioner for water resources who was alleged in the video to have abducted the girl from okene and brought in chains to Lokoja, where he allegedly directed for her being flogged with lacerations on her body and later raped till the next day.
According to the said video, the victim who was being assisted by Dorothy Njemanze Foundation to lend credence to the story disclosed that last week, she had posted a message to the Commissioner, urging him to assist one of her friends – who is known to the Commissioner – to cushion the effect of
Covid-19 pandemic, the message that the Commissioner considered to be offensive, led to her ordeal.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the state commissioner for information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo said that the governor was shocked on hearing the news and subsequently ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
The governor hereby assures both accuser and accused, as well as the general public, that the whole truth will be uncovered and justice served as appropriate.” Fanwo stated.
The attention of the Kogi State Government has been drawn to the allegations of assault, battery and other serious crimes levied against Abdumumini Danga who is a serving Commissioner in Kogi State.
It is alleged that he is involved in the alleged abduction and assault of a woman which allegedly occurred in Lokoja recently.”
His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who is an avowed advocate of the fundamental rights of Nigerian citizens, and especially within the boundaries of our dear State is shocked by these accusations.
The Kogi State Government reaffirms its unalloyed commitment to the protection of everyone from all forms of oppression, and will not tolerate violence against women or children under any form or guise.
We give our word that if these allegations are proven, everyone found culpable will be brought to justice” The statement assured
However, as the time of filing this report all efforts at getting to the Commissioner to comment on the issue proved abortive.
