The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting rather than competing with private individuals, businesses, and brands in the creative and tourism sectors.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking over the weekend during an interactive session with media professionals, Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, said the administration is working hand-in-hand with stakeholders to promote Lagos as a vibrant, year-round investment destination.

According to Aregbe, the government is currently collaborating with players across multiple sectors including fashion, food, lifestyle, film, music, and hospitality through a new programme called ‘101 Days in Lagos’.
“As a government, we know we can’t do everything. We’re not in competition with any brand or entrepreneur. Our focus is on complementing their efforts,” Aregbe stated.

He explained that the ‘101 Days in Lagos’ initiative will spotlight cultural and economic activities in the city from September 26 to January 4, helping residents and tourists better plan their schedules during the festive season.
“Everyone talks about Detty December, but there’s much more happening before and after December. Lagos is alive with events all year. That’s the image we want to promote,” he said.
The goal, Aregbe added, is to rebrand Lagos as a non-stop city for business, entertainment, and culture.
In addition to the 101 Days campaign, the state is also planning a ‘Cultural Weekend’ from November 14 to 16, which aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Lagos and its people.
“We want to celebrate Lagos as a hub of diversity, culture, and endless economic opportunities. These initiatives will boost local talent and attract global attention,” Aregbe noted.
The administration is positioning Lagos as a city that never sleeps, with activities spread throughout the year not just in the festive season to ensure sustained tourism and economic activity.
