Lawsuit Seeking To Oust Usman Baba As IGP Nullified By Court

  • A court has dismissed a suit seeking the removal of IGP Usman Baba.

  • The suit was instituted by Michael Idoko against President Muhammadu Buhari and four others.

  • Justice James Omotoso dismissed the suit because the plaintiff lacked the legal right to institute it.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a suit seeking the removal of Usman Baba as the Inspector General of Police.

The suit marked FHC/CS/31/2023 was instituted by Michael Idoko against President Muhammadu Buhari and four others.

Justice James Omotoso, delivering his judgement on Tuesday, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the plaintiff lacks the legal right to institute it.

He invoked Section 7(6) of the Police Act 2020, which puts the tenure of office of any IGP at four years.
