Liverpool Mourn Death Of Singer Behind Club Anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’

Gerry Marsden, the emblematic voice behind the well-known Liverpool anthem. ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, has passed away by the age of 78.

The lead vocalist who put together a group called Gerry and the Pacemakers, and completes sold-out tours worldwide, died due to a brief illness,  EKO HOT BLOG  gathered.

Initially a show in the musical Carousel, Marsden and his group covered the hit in 1963, and it was number one in the UK Singles Chart for four weeks.

Club fans quickly embraced the song as a hymn sung before and after the games.

Liverpool’s iconic manager, Billy Shankly, is said to have “admired” the track when he heard it during a pre-peason bus trip in the summer, it had been recorded.

Ever since, until today, it’s the club’s national anthem.
