1. Atiku, God’s plan for Ndigbo, Nigeria –PDP PCC
The Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Atiku-Okowa Campaign Committee in Anambra State, Mr Uloka Chukwubuikem, has said the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, remains the only God’s plan for Nigeria and the Ndigbo in the 2023 general elections.
Chukwubuikem called on Nigerians and especially the Southeasterners to continue to pray for the Atiku-Okowa victory as we usher into 2023.
The PDP chieftain stated these in a New Year statement on Saturday, adding that the long sufferings of Nigerians and the blurred future of the nation are gradually coming to an end with the inevitability of an Atiku-Okowa victory at the first ballot in 2023.
Uloka called on Southeasterners to join the fray and adopt Atiku as their sole candidate, saying that the task to free Nigeria and Nigerians from the bondage of bad governance has become the demand across the nation.
2. Raheem: UN coordinator demands speedy justice
The Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Matthias Schmale, has condemned the killing of Mrs Omobolanle Raheem, by a police officer, Drambi Vandi, describing it as deeply disturbing.
While condoling with the family of the deceased lawyer, the UN official called for justice for Raheem and also admonished the government to review and strengthen the police’s rules of engagement and standard operating procedure.
Schmale in a statement on Saturday expressed worries over what he described as the unabated epidemic of violence against women and girls, adding that the UN would continue to support the Federal Government and the police in protecting women and girls from any form of violence in addition to ensuring that the rights of the most vulnerable in society are fully respected.
3. Ritualists invade Ogun community, exhume skulls from graves
Fear gripped residents of Ipokia community in the Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State as some yet-to-be identified ritualists reportedly invaded the community and dug out over 40 skulls from graves.
Our correspodent gathered that the ritualists usually operate at night when people must have slept off.
A source said the ritualists invaded different parts of the town, dug the graves to exhume skulls and other human parts.

6. Chibok girls’ parents to Buhari: Bring back our daughters before leaving office
Fathers and mothers of the remaining abducted Chibok school girls have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to bring back their daughters before leaving office in May 2023.
On the night of 14–15 April 2014, 276 female students aged from 16 to 18 were kidnapped by the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram from the Government Girls Secondary School at the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria.
At least scores of the girls are still in captivity and have not been found eight years after.
