Many Northern Homes Destroyed By Drug Abuse — Ali Nuhu

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ali Nuhu, a popular Nollywood and Kannywood actor, has revealed that many families in Northern Nigeria are battling drug abuse. Nuhu made this known during an interview with The Guardian, where he stated that his experience studying Transmedia Storytelling at the University of Southern California changed his mindset on filmmaking.

According to the actor, his study experience inspired him to create movies that address the issue of drug abuse in Northern Nigeria. He observed that most people are unaware that victims of drug abuse can be rehabilitated and his movie is a way of educating people about this social vice.

Nuhu revealed that he shot a movie on the issues of insecurity and violent extremism in the region. He highlighted how the youth are being radicalized and recruited into various vices. The film was an eye-opener and garnered a lot of views, becoming a huge success.

In his words, “When I got back, I had to do a film on drug abuse, but I concentrated on the rehabilitation aspect of it because I noticed that in Northern Nigeria, a lot of families have one or two people that are involved in the vice. I felt like it was time for us to contribute our own quota by educating people on this. Then I realized that most people do not even know that you can take someone for rehabilitation. That is why I had to do that film.”

Drug abuse has become a significant problem in Nigeria, and Northern Nigeria is not an exception. It is causing harm to individuals and their families and impacting society as a whole.
