Missing 2026 World Cup Would Be a Disaster for Super Eagles – Oliseh

Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has emphasized the importance of Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles missed out on the last World Cup held in Qatar and have had a rough start to their current qualifying campaign, failing to secure a win in four matches.

Oliseh warned that missing out on the World Cup for a second consecutive time would be disastrous for Nigerian football.

“Africa could be represented by as many as 10 countries at the next World Cup, we’re at the risk of not being one of these countries and it will be a disaster if Nigeria do not qualify,” Oliseh told Supersport TV.

“I was at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for six weeks working on the FIFA study Group and it was painful that Nigeria were not there.”
