Although the match was a formality — with Spain already confirmed as Group A4 winners and Switzerland guaranteed last place — it delivered plenty of excitement.

Playing in his hometown, Pedri had a first-half penalty saved, but Canary Islander Yeremy Pino capitalized on the rebound to give Spain a 32nd-minute lead. Switzerland equalized in the 63rd minute through Joel Monteiro, only for Bryan Gil to restore Spain’s advantage five minutes later.

Switzerland fought back once again, with Andi Zeqiri converting a penalty in the 85th minute to make it 2-2. However, Bryan Zaragoza sealed the win for Spain with a spot-kick deep into stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Denmark joined Spain in the quarter-finals after a goalless draw in Serbia. The hosts, needing a win to finish second, dominated with 22 attempts but failed to find the net. Their frustration was compounded by the late dismissal of Strahinja Pavlovic in the fifth minute of injury time.

Serbia finished third in the group and now face a League B team in a relegation-promotion play-off.
