EKO HOT BLOG reports that emergency responders have been battling a raging fire at a mechanic village in Mile 2, near the Army Signal Barracks, in Lagos

The Zonal Coordinator South-West, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident, he said no live was lost.

Farinloye said that the fire is believed to be caused by operations of a panel beater welding under a truck.

The official added that the mechanic village contained several parked trucks.

“It was alleged that the fire outbreak was not taken seriously initially until it got out of hands”, told NAN.

Firefighters from the government and a company rushed to the scene late afternoon.

Personnel from Julius Berger Plc, United Bank for Africa and the Nigerian Army assisted.

Other responders included the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Federal Fire Service, LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) and the Lagos State Fire Service.
