The Nigerian Centre for disease control on Friday announced that 170 of the samples collected for COVID-19 test returned positive.
The agency made the disclosure in its daily updates and situation reports of the virulent infection.
Three deaths were also recorded on Friday, a development which brings the total fatalities related to COVID-19 to 1,144.
However, 181 patients were discharged on Friday after being certified free of the infection bring the recovery toll 58, 480.
By the same token, Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria, has now discharged over 20,000 patients.
The latest developments bring the total number COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 62,691.
