EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Senate has announced a one-week shift in its resumption date from April 25 to May 2. The Clerk of the Senate, Mr Chinedu Akubueze, made this known in a statement released on Friday in Abuja.

Although no reason was given for the rescheduling, the statement called on all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to resume sitting in plenary on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m prompt.

It will be recalled that the Senate had adjourned plenary on April 5 to observe the Easter and Sallah holidays. The resumption was initially scheduled for April 25, but has now been shifted by one week.

The postponement is expected to give senators more time to attend to their constituency duties and other legislative assignments. It also provides an opportunity for the Senate leadership to finalize arrangements for the resumption of plenary.
