Nigeria’s Junior Tigress Beat Uganda To Reach U-18 Afrobasket Final

Nigeria’s Junior Tigress have secured their place in the final of the U-18 Afrobasket Championship in Pretoria, South Africa, following a hard-fought victory over Uganda in Friday’s semi-final.

The Nigerian team displayed exceptional grit and determination, edging out Uganda with a close 71-67 win.

This triumph marked a significant reversal of fortune, as the two teams had previously clashed in the group stage, where Uganda came out on top with an 80-64 victory.

However, the semi-final win not only earned Nigeria a spot in the final but also secured one of Africa’s two automatic qualification slots for the 2024 FIBA U-19 World Cup, set to take place in the Czech Republic.

In the tournament’s final, scheduled for Saturday, September 14, Nigeria will face Mali.
