NLC Threatens Fresh Strike Over Proposed Fuel Price Hike

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to go on strike if the government increases the price of petrol without concluding negotiations with the labour unions.

The NLC president, Joe Ajaero, said that the government should stop the falling value of the naira, which is making it difficult to import petrol. He also criticized the government for harassing labour leaders.

The NLC had previously gone on strike in May to protest the removal of fuel subsidies. The strike was suspended after the government agreed to hold talks with the unions.

However, the talks have not yet yielded any results, and the NLC is now threatening to go on strike again if the government does not address its concerns.

The government has said that it is committed to finding a solution to the fuel price issue, but it has not given any indication of when a deal might be reached.

In the meantime, the NLC is warning that it will not hesitate to take action if the government does not meet its demands.
