EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision, announced on Saturday, comes barely 24 hours after Jibrin said it should not be a surprise if he dumped the NNPP and returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmaker had stated that he was old enough to independently decide what was politically best for him.
Addressing journalists in Kano, NNPP Chairman in the state, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, accused Jibrin of engaging in anti-party activities and failing to fulfill his financial obligations to the party. He said the expulsion followed the lawmaker’s repeated attacks on the NNPP and its leadership.
Dungurawa described Jibrin as a “weak politician” who owed his political rise to the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP, not his individual strength.
“If he was truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed. It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a House of Reps member. Now he is deceiving himself thinking he is strong,” Dungurawa said.
He explained that a reconciliation committee was initially set up to engage Jibrin after his controversial Channels Television interview, but a subsequent media appearance showed he was working against the party’s interest.
“Instead of dialogue, he went further to work against our interest, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” he said, adding that the party would drag Jibrin to court to recover outstanding dues he allegedly failed to pay.

On speculation that Jibrin may return to the APC, Dungurawa maintained that such a move would not affect the NNPP’s strength, insisting that politics is about coalitions and that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains firmly behind its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
