Oyekan Sanwo-Olu In May 29 (Poem)

It is obvious that the Crown and my people made you the interpreter.

As a town Crier, you have interpreted well.

Now, the Crown and my people want you as a decision-maker.

I still remember my reaction, when I heard the Crown’s Bell,

That the past god’s monument should be built for remembrance.

I told the Crown that god did not die.

If so, god should be brought for another better chance!

You were looked from toes to head as if you were a kite,

When I took you in, as our past god, into the Crown’s vicinity.

“What is your name?” was replied with “my name is Oyekan.”

I will know this through your positive past ability!

Question for the god: the next public figure to come.

Sir, my mandate was for the masses; Ashiwaju and Akinolu.

For that reason, you should always be called: Oyekan Sanwo-Olu.
