The Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Local Government congresses were brought to a standstill on Saturday amidst protests and controversy.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the congresses were scheduled to hold, but party members stopped the process due to alleged tampering with the Ward congresses list and diversion of congress materials.

The party has been in turmoil since the inconclusive Ward congresses in July. The list released to stakeholders on Friday did not match the collated results from the wards, sparking confusion.
Tension was high at the party Secretariat, with a heavy security presence and suspected political thugs patrolling the area.
Party stakeholders and members kept vigil, awaiting the arrival of electoral officials from the national Secretariat in Abuja.
The recent Ward congresses have generated confusion, with numerous suspensions and counter-suspensions for anti-party activities. The situation reinforces the party’s precarious state, teetering towards disarray.
After a long wait, pandemonium erupted when electoral officials arrived from Abuja.
Protesting members prevented the distribution of materials, demanding the list of candidates and Ward congresses results, which the officials couldn’t produce.
The officials were chased out of the Secretariat, and the caretaker chairman, AVM Napoleon Bali, and his committee fled in a convoy to an unknown destination.”
