Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 32 and expressed his ambitions to pursue a career in coaching.
Jones, who last played for Manchester United in a 3-0 win over Brentford 12 months ago, has struggled with fitness issues since the 2022-2023 season, leading to his limited appearances at Old Trafford.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that despite a career plagued by injuries, Jones, who earned 27 caps for England, remains optimistic about his future in coaching.
Having already completed his A coaching license, Jones is determined to take on the challenge of leading a football club. “My career finished shorter than I would have liked,” Jones told the BBC. “But I’m a glass-half-full person.
“I’ve completed my A license, and I want to get out there and challenge myself in coaching.
“Ultimately, I want to take charge of a team, and I am determined to get there.”

During his 12-year tenure at Manchester United, Jones achieved notable success, winning the 2013 Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson, the FA Cup in 2016, the League Cup and Europa League in 2017, and the Community Shield in 2011 and 2013.
Jones began his professional career at Blackburn Rovers, making his senior debut in 2009 before joining Manchester United in 2011.
