Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the heads of agencies, parastatals, and government-owned companies in the state to prioritize innovation and creativity to boost government revenue.
The Governor emphasized, “In recent times, the global landscape has presented us with unprecedented challenges, demanding that we adopt innovative approaches to increase government revenue.”
He aims to meet the ever-growing needs of Lagos residents and ensure ample funds for critical projects.
Speaking at a one-day parley organized by the Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO), Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his government’s commitment to improving the welfare and prosperity of each citizen.
He stated, “Parastatal organizations are established with a mandate to address specific developmental issues that hinge directly on the welfare and wellbeing of the people.”
The parley was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; and the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro.
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the pivotal role that heads of parastatals and government-owned companies play in facilitating the delivery of dividends of democracy through efficient and effective implementation of government policies and programs.
He stressed the importance of exploring innovative approaches to increase government revenue, especially in the face of unprecedented global challenges.
The Governor encouraged accountability and transparency in operations, stating, “The Parastatal Monitoring Office serves as a vital mechanism for ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards.”
He emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating that “Collaboration is the cornerstone of progress, and it is essential that we forge strong partnerships across all sectors.”
In his vision for an investment-driven economy, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the creation of an enabling environment that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and business growth.
He acknowledged both the challenges and opportunities faced by Lagos, urging collective efforts to address challenges and seize opportunities.
Commending the heads of agencies for their dedication and hard work, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged them to welcome innovation, collaboration, and accountability into their pursuits.

He called for efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling responsibilities, emphasizing the aim to establish a legacy of excellence and advancement for future generations.
