A slick move at the edge of the box led to Dejan Kulusevski cutting inside and setting up Yves Bissouma, who unleashed a crisp shot that struck the underside of the crossbar before finding the back of the net.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was caught out shortly after when Son dispossessed him and calmly slotted the ball into an empty net.

Cristian Romero added a third goal after the break, outmuscling James Tarkowski and Michael Keane to head in James Maddison’s pinpoint corner.

Spurs captain Son capped off the win with a low angled finish through Pickford’s legs, following an impressive run by Micky van de Ven from one penalty box to the other.

Everton offered little threat throughout the match, with their only notable effort being a shot from Jesper Lindstrom that was well saved by Guglielmo Vicario.
