According to local accounts, the deceased were casual workers who earned a living through daily labour and running errands within the neighbourhood.
A resident, who gave his name as Alfred but requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak publicly, said the victims were asleep when they were attacked.
“The boys lived in a makeshift structure put up on the premises of a building on the street. We knew them as labourers who also helped residents with errands. But on Sunday morning, one of their colleagues raised an alarm about an attack. When people got there, they found the three of them in a pool of blood with machete cuts all over their bodies. We were told the attackers dragged them out of their room before killing them,” he said.

Another resident, a member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association who also asked not to be named, said the gruesome incident shocked the community and created panic.
“This sort of thing has never happened on our street. The police were contacted immediately,” he said, adding that residents have since become more alert and that additional security measures are being implemented.
As of the time of reporting, the motive behind the killings remains unknown.
However, some community sources suggested the incident may be connected to a cult clash or a personal dispute involving the victims.
