Tinubu Presides Over First FEC Meeting Since National Mourning

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently leading the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja, which began at 1:11 pm.

This marks the first FEC session after last Wednesday’s meeting was canceled due to the passing of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in attendance are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, and a representative from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Nearly all cabinet ministers are also present.

The meeting comes as the administration resumes key policy discussions and governance agendas following the period of national mourning. President Tinubu had earlier expressed deep sorrow over the death of Lagbaja, and today’s meeting represents a return to the administration’s regular business.

In related developments, President Tinubu announced that his administration has successfully secured $30 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) commitments in under two years. The President made this announcement while opening the 2024 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) conference in Abuja.

Represented by National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, the President emphasized the government’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s economic foundation, highlighting the significant progress made in attracting investments and bolstering the economy.
