Epe Lawmaker Reacts to Tragic Lekki-Epe Expressway Accident

The lawmaker representing Epe Federal Constituency, Rep. Wale Raji, has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal accident that occurred earlier today along the Ibeju axis of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, involving an 18-seater passenger bus and a truck.

“I received with deep shock and sadness the tragic news of the fatal accident that occurred earlier today along the Ibeju axis of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, involving an 18-seater passenger bus and a truck,” he said.

“The heartbreaking incident has claimed several precious lives, leaving families and our entire constituency in mourning.”

The lawmaker extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for speedy recovery of those injured.

6 Dead, 9 Injured in Fatal Crash on Lekki-Epe Expressway

A fatal road crash claimed six lives and left nine others injured on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Ibeju Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the accident, which occurred at about 10:22 a.m., involved a blue Volvo FL6 truck and a white Mazda commercial bus with registration number AKD 336YD.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ibeju-Lekki Unit Command, the crash was caused by speeding, route violation, and dangerous driving.

The truck was reportedly driving against traffic when it collided head-on with the passenger bus coming from CMS and heading towards Epe.

Out of the 19 passengers involved, six were confirmed dead, including two males, three females, and a male child.

Lekki LCDA Backs Campaign Against Domestic and Sexual Violence in Lagos

Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has joined other civil servants across Lagos State in marking the start of Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month by wearing a touch of purple in solidarity.

The Ogunlaja Royal Family of Odo Noforija Kingdom, Epe Division of Lagos State, on Friday, laid to rest Princess Susana Ayodele Shafau Ogunlaja, sister of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja, JP, FNBE, Kalejaiya II, the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo Noforija Kingdom. She passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 86.

The service reflected her lifelong devotion to God, her family, and her community. Following the church service, she was interred at the royal family compound, where family members, friends, and dignitaries paid their last respects.

In his tribute, the Bobakeye of Odo Noforija Kingdom, Chief  Dipeolu, urged the Ogunlaja family to sustain the good works of the late Princess.

Major Accident at Berger Bridge T-Junction, Epe

A serious accident occurred earlier today on the Berger Bridge T-Junction in Epe, when a truck lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles, leaving many people injured and causing heavy traffic congestion.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the crash involved a truck, a tricycle (keke napep), and four cars, all of which sustained significant damage. According to eyewitnesses, the truck suffered a brake failure, making the driver lose control and collide with vehicles waiting at the junction.

An eyewitness, Mr. Ademola said: “The driver kept shouting that his brake had failed.

Before we knew it, the truck had already crashed into the tricycle and several cars. People were screaming and running everywhere.”

Another commuter, Mrs. Kehinde, added: “It was a terrible sight. The tricycle was badly crushed, and several people were injured. Thank God no life was lost.”

Speaking during the thanksgiving, Kabiyesi expressed gratitude to God for granting his late sister a fulfilled life of 86 years and for the peaceful success of her burial ceremonies.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Local Branch, joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 International Youth Day with a two-day impactful programme. Olowa, CP Moshood Move to Restore Calm in Onosa After Fatal Clash

Onosa community in Ibeju-Lekki witnessed calm today after hours of unrest sparked by a violent clash involving a police officer and residents. Court Convicts Five for Illegal Waste Dumping in Ibeju-Lekki

In a decisive move to uphold environmental sustainability, five offenders — Akaa Isaac, Abiodun Lawal, Mwughoro Precious, Joshua Oloruntoba, and Ibrahim Atiku — have been convicted for illegal dumping of waste at the Shapati area of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

Delivering judgment, the court ordered the offenders to clean up the affected area, pay a fine of ₦15,000 each, and register with a licensed waste management authority within 48 hours. Failure to comply would attract a one-month jail term.
