Ramsdale, 26, is expected to complete the move before Friday’s transfer deadline, with Southampton set to pay £18 million upfront, plus an additional £7 million in potential add-ons.
Following Southampton’s 5-3 Carabao Cup second-round victory over Cardiff, Saints manager Russell Martin told BBC Radio Solent: “If it happens, it’s very, very exciting. But we’ll have to wait and see. I’m sure we’ll talk about it at some point if and when it happens.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers were also in talks with Arsenal to sign Ramsdale, who serves as the backup to David Raya at Emirates Stadium. However, Wolves withdrew from negotiations due to the high cost of the deal.
Ramsdale was a key figure for Arsenal during the 2022-23 season, playing every minute of their league games as they finished second behind Manchester City. However, he lost his starting spot to Raya, who joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford last season and later made the move permanent.
Ramsdale made just six league appearances afterward, totaling 78 Premier League appearances for Arsenal since joining from Sheffield United in 2021 for £24 million.
