Twitter Trend: Rape Survivors Take On #WhyIDidntReport, Reveal Why They Kept Quiet After Being Abused

#WhyIDidntReport trends on Twitter as men and women explain why they didn’t report their abusers.

A higher majority of rape survivors stay silent and do not out their rapists. Those who speak up years later are usually asked why they are just coming out or why they kept quiet for so long.

#WhyIDidntReportIt. He threatened to use things against me, and he veiled it so thinly in the company of others that I was afraid he'd say it at any moment. He classically conditioned me to think it was normal. So I pretended and was "safe."
