Heavyweight WBC belt holder, Fury replied Deontay Wilder’s claim of cheating during their Las Vegas rematch
Fury took the Bronze Bomber’s WBC belt in February after a dominant victory in their Las Vegas rematch.
Wilder has since offered an endless list of excuses for his poor performance, claiming his ring-walk costume was too heavy and later accusing his trainer Mark Breland of tampering with his water to help Fury execute a seventh-round knockout.
The American has also accused Fury of cheating by hiding weights in his gloves for their first and second fight.
And now Fury has revealed that Wilder even went as far as to say he had put a ‘Gypsy spell’ on him after their thrilling first fight – which saw the Brit miraculously climb off the canvas twice – ended in a contentious draw.
Fury, who is nicknamed the ‘Gypsy King,’ denied Wilder’s outlandish claims, saying: ‘When Joe Rogan interviewed Wilder on his podcast after our first fight, Wilder said he thought I’d put some kind of gypsy spell on him.
‘As far as I know, I don’t possess much in the way of spells, though my Irish grandmother was a fortune teller.
‘What’s clear [from the second fight] is that I had got into his head and shook his self-confidence by repeatedly telling him I was going to drop him in the second round.
‘I planted that seed in his mind and uttered it so frequently in the run-up to the fight he got spooked and started believing it himself.’
Wilder had been favourite to win their rematch but was floored twice by Fury before being stopped in the seventh round.
Their trilogy fight was supposed to happen later this year but Fury waked away from a prospective third clash with Wilder after his rematch clause expired before they could reach an agreement.
Fury claimed that he was frustrated at Wilder for changing the dates that they had initially agreed.
