We Hold Sir Kesington Adebutu in High Esteem in Remoland – Akarigbo of Remo

His Royal Majesty Oba Adewale Babatunde Ajayi is the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland. In this interview, with Ekohotblog Editorial Team led by our Consultant Editor, Akinduro, on the Odole Oodua of Yorubaland chieftaincy title to be conferred on Sir Kesington Adebutu, he spoke glowingly about the personality of the Remo born multiple titleholder. Excerpts :
Your Majesty, what is your relationship with Sir Kesington Adebutu?
We have what I can call an extreme cordial relationship. Sir Kesington Adebutu is someone we hold in high esteem in Remoland. He is a very prominent son of the land. In fact, he is the Balogun of Remoland. He played a very significant role in my ascending to the throne of my forefathers and he has done a lot for us in Remo. Our prayer to him is that the good Lord will continue to keep him not only for the people of Remo but Nigeria and humanity in general.
As he is going to be installed with the prestigious title, Odole Oodua of Yorubaland on Friday, by His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, what is your goodwill message to him?
On behalf of all our sons and daughters from Remo, first, I will like to express our gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, for finding our son from Remoland worthy for such a prestigious title. Odole Oodua is a great title in Yorubaland, especially when you consider that people of high caliber like the late sage, the great Chief Obafemi Awolowo, had once held the title. So, from this perspective, you will realise that the tittle is not meant for mere men but extraordinary people of exemplary achievements. So that is why we are full of appreciation to Kabiyesi Ooni for the honour done on us in Remoland through the chieftaincy title conferred on Sir Adebutu.
Having said this, our goodwill message for Sir Adebutu on the auspicious occasion is that, God will bless him with long life and good health which he will use to enjoy this noble title and other noble ones he already got before now.
How will you describe his personality?
Sir Kesington Adebutu is a great man. He is Baba Oba of so many Obas. He is the Asoju Oba of Lagos. He has a lot of chieftaincy titles in his kitty. He is someone that operates with the fear of God. Despite his benevolent influence and affluence, his humility is second to none and the content of his character is exemplary. He is a very approachable and accommodating person. He is a man who has his footprints all over the places in Nigeria. Go to universities in any parts of the country, his footprints are there. He is a man with a very large heart; a philanthropic of note and community man per excellence. Without mincing word, the Odole Oodua title has been given to the person who truly deserves it. Also, it won’t be wrong to say that his title as Balogun of Remoland has prepared him for the Odole Oodua title. A lot of things has prepared the man, even three days ago, he was conferred with a title. He is also the Balogun of Iperu.
You will recall that I missed the first appointment i had with you yesterday and the reason was that i went to attend a meeting of the Association of friends club where for the first time a patron was made and the whole member deemed Sir Kesington Adebutu for it. We are really blessed in Remo for having someone like him who is a role model for other sons and daughters of Remoland.
He is a man well prepared for this esteemed position. Apart from his financial prowess, his character
speaks volume. He should continue to do what he knows how to do best. And all we pray for him is long life and good health.
