- I was struggling with the Holy Ghost, and the Spirit of God spoke to me and said, “Take that chain away” and I said, “Oh, is that the problem?”
The Nigerian Televangelist and President of Love-World Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy International Ministry, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has revealed during an online teaching on Wednesday, why he stopped wearing chains and dark glasses.
According to the video posted on Christ Embassy’s YouTube page, he said, “I was preaching one day and I had a chain on my wrist. Sometimes I used to use things like that. So I was wearing the chain I’ve used so many times because I had it for long, but when I was preaching on Sunday morning, suddenly I just couldn’t preach.
“The unction couldn’t just flow and I was wondering, “What’s the matter?” I was still trying to preach to the people but it was hard and I was struggling with the Holy Ghost, and the Spirit of God spoke to me and said, “Take that chain away” and I said, “Oh, is that the problem?”
“Then I told the congregation to close their eyes and pray. They all closed their eyes and I turned and took the chains away, I put it in my pocket. Then, the unction just came back and I felt like a different person from that moment, but I’ve never preached that people shouldn’t wear chains.”

“You see, the Spirit of God does lead us, that’s why he told me to get rid of that chain. I used to wear dark glasses. I still have some of those pictures but it got broken one after the other. There was a time I was with a brother and the new one I just bought fell down and broke, the brother said, “God has broken your glasses.” When I heard that, I knew that was God speaking to me. That was the last time I wore dark glasses. I didn’t use them anymore.”
“I’m trying to tell you that, when you become a Minister of the Gospel you have a new responsibility. Do you know what is called love slave? You’re a love slave to Jesus Christ. You have views but you cannot air them. He literally runs your life because you’ve yielded your all to him. There are places I want to go but I can’t go, not because I don’t want to go there, but I used to tell people my boss may not permit me, but you see, we are not all mature to that level.”
