EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, which started at about 8:40 p.m., was attended by several top-ranking party figures. Among them were PDP National Secretary Sam Anyanwu, National Vice Chairman (South-South) Dan Orbih, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and former Senator George Sekibo. A number of zonal and state party chairmen were also present.

The gathering comes at a time when questions are being raised about Wike’s loyalty to the PDP and whether he should face disciplinary measures for alleged anti-party activities.

Responding to the concerns, PDP’s Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barrister Okechukwu Osuoha, clarified that no action can be taken against any member without a formal petition backed by evidence. He said the party’s constitution requires due process before sanctions can be applied.

“At our NEC meeting, we set up a disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, with Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as secretary,” Osuoha explained. “They were mandated to address any infraction or anti-party activity by any member of the party, no matter their position. But up until today, no one has been prosecuted or sanctioned.

“People often ask me specifically about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike — why don’t we discipline him, why don’t we take action? I tell them it is not enough to merely say someone has committed an offence. A formal petition has to be submitted to the disciplinary committee.”
