The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled an attempt to traffic three children in Mararaba following a swift response to a distress call that led to the arrest of a suspect.
Police spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, according to Eko Hot Blog.

He explained that the case occurred on September 4, 2025, around 5:45 p.m., when a 22-year-old woman, identified as Aisha Hashiru, was apprehended by residents at Orange Market, Mararaba, while attempting to abduct three children.
“She was about to be lynched when the Divisional Police Officer of Mararaba A Division, acting promptly on the report, mobilized his patrol team to the scene, rescued both the suspect and the children, and moved them to the station for safety,” Nansel said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had earlier sneaked into the home of one Ramatu Auwal around 5:00 p.m. and abducted her three children, identified as Fatima Auwal, aged four, Shafiyi Auwal, aged five, and Amina Auwal, aged six.
The police said Hashiru confessed to luring the children with promises of biscuits before she was intercepted by vigilant residents.
The Commissioner of Police has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation.

He also urged officers to intensify efforts in addressing reports of missing children and combating human trafficking.
“The Command appreciates the vigilance of residents and assures the public of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and ensuring the safety of children across Nasarawa State,” the statement added.
