3 Foods You Should Not Consume On Empty Stomach

The things you take in first thing in the morning will have a profound effect on the rest of your day or, put another way, will lay the groundwork for a productive or unproductive day.

The majority of Nigerians cannot even fathom beginning their day without a steaming cup of coffee or tea. It’s true that some individuals can’t function normally without that one thing; however, have you ever thought about the impact it may be having on your body?

EDITOR’S PICK:

A hot beverage, such as coffee or tea, is a great way to ease into the day and may do wonders for your mental state. However, there are certain negative health effects associated with drinking coffee or tea, including stomach bloating, acid reflux, gastritis, and even liver disease and other lifestyle issues.

In this article on EKO HOT BLOG, we will be looking at some foods you should avoid consuming on an empty stomach.

1. Yogurt

The lactic acid in yogurt is neutralized by the intense acidity of an empty stomach. In an empty stomach, the lactic acid bacteria that normally keep certain dairy products from being sour are destroyed by the stomach’s acid.

2. Coffee

Even if your morning cup of joe may be getting you out of bed, WebMD says you should skip it. In order to digest coffee first thing in the morning, the stomach will produce more acid than usual. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee without the discomfort of indigestion or heartburn by eating a light breakfast first thing in the morning.

3. Citrus Fruits

Consuming fruits at their peak freshness and in adequate quantities is, according to WebMD, crucial. Long-term consumption of citrus fruits may cause more acid to be produced in the stomach. Citrus fruits are notable for their strong acid content. Without treatment, this condition can worsen into ulcers or inflammation of the digestive tract. Eating fruits on an empty stomach can cause a number of unfavorable reactions, such as heartburn and a sluggish metabolism, due to the high level of fructose that is naturally present in fruits.
