- Ex-housemate calls reactions hypocritical
- Says intimacy is part of reality TV
- Urges viewers to keep same energy for other shows
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle, has fired back at those criticizing the intimate moments often shown on the reality TV program, saying the outrage is misplaced.
According to Eko Hot Blog, the ex-contestant argued that many Nigerians who condemn such scenes still consume similar or even more explicit content on other platforms without raising the same concerns.

He described the reactions as “pure hypocrisy,” stressing that BBNaija is simply a reality show that mirrors real-life interactions.
Adekunle further noted that intimacy among housemates is neither new nor unique to the Nigerian franchise of the show. He explained that reality TV across the globe thrives on raw human behavior, which naturally includes moments of affection, disagreements, and even intimacy. To him, what happens in the BBNaija house should not be treated differently from what is already normalized in entertainment worldwide.

He also emphasized that while viewers are free to share their opinions, they should apply the same standards across all platforms. For instance, movies, music videos, and international reality shows often portray similar or more daring content, yet they are not met with the same level of public backlash. Adekunle believes that singling out BBNaija is unfair, especially since the show clearly warns viewers about its age restrictions.
The former housemate concluded that critics should focus on the positive aspects of the show, such as how it provides visibility, opportunities, and financial empowerment to young Nigerians. In his view, rather than condemning the reality series for its intimate moments, the conversation should shift towards how to maximize the platform for growth and social impact.
With this, Adekunle has joined the ongoing debate on whether BBNaija’s controversial moments undermine cultural values or simply reflect the reality of modern entertainment.
