731 Batch B NYSC Members Contracts COVID-19 – PTF

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has revealed that 731 members of the National Youth Service Corps Batch B were found to be positive for COVID-19.

The chairman, PTF on COVID-19, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, mentioned this during Tuesday’s national COVID-19 briefing in Abuja,   EKO HOT BLOG  gathered.

In his view, in pursuing NYSC’s commitment, the PTF carried out tests on Batch B corps members  using. RDTs. Of the 35419 in Batch B, 731 were found to be positive compared to the 108 recorded in Batch A.

“It is noted in the report that cases have been reported by corps members. From every state of the federation,” he said.

The PTF chairman, said “there is also an increase in the rate of infections among medical professionals and this calls for increased monitoring.

“In Africa, Nigeria came together with South Africa to report the most serious daily infections.

“​As of date, Nigerian statistics show the following: Cumulative cases – 91,351; Cumulative Tests – 958,911; Deaths – 1,318 and Week 53 recorded 57 deaths who has been the highest since we started,” he said.

Mustapha further stated that “It is with pleasure that we inform you about that private sector – CACOVID began supporting our response with 100 tanks of oxygen per day, till the end of March 2021, to be distributed to Abuja Intensive Care Centers.

”In addition, authorization was granted for the rehabilitation of five oxygen plants in a number of tertiary health establishments in Abuja.. The President has also approved that at least one oxygen plant should be established in each state of the federation immediately,” he said.
