- Tattoo done privately
- Blood-filled session
- Freedom from toxic love
Tiwa Savage has revealed that one of her tattoos was born out of heartbreak. The award-winning Nigerian singer opened up in a recent interview, explaining how a difficult breakup led her to express her pain through body art.
According to Eko Hot Blog, Tiwa didn’t get the tattoo in a regular studio. Instead, she flew a tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos. She made the choice to be tattooed in her bedroom, away from public attention, saying she wanted complete privacy during what was an emotional moment for her.

“I didn’t want anyone to see me like that,” she said, describing the session as raw and deeply personal. The pain wasn’t just emotional it was physical too. “There was blood everywhere,” she recalled. Her tattoo artist was so surprised by the intensity of the piece that he asked, “Is that going to come off?” But for Tiwa, the tattoo wasn’t just a design it was a mark of something she needed to release.

She went on to reflect on the toxic relationship that inspired it, calling it “crazy” and admitting the last two years had been extremely challenging. However, she didn’t dwell on the sadness. Instead, she spoke with a sense of peace and pride. “I’m so happy I’m out of that relationship,” she said with a smile.
Tiwa’s story shows a side of the superstar that fans don’t often see. It’s not just about music or fame it’s about healing, survival, and taking control of her narrative. For many, tattoos can be random choices or fashion statements, but for Tiwa, this one carried deep meaning.
Her decision to share the story behind it may offer comfort to fans facing their own emotional battles, showing that pain, when confronted head-on, can be turned into a symbol of freedom and strength.
